At the heart of LEAD222 is the hope and desire to change the culture of student ministry and to impact student culture as a whole. A primary way we do that during Servant Leadership is through our student leadership training. Below we’ve provided an outline of our leadership values that will be taught throughout the week. Our training is experienced through high quality worship experiences and teaching, a student journal/ devotional experience, missional serving experiences, team small group discussion, and interactive training experiences.
This year’s theme is Live Differently. Below is the content for the different sessions.
What does is mean to live? Life is defined in many ways in our world. Is life is the pursuit of happiness? Is life simply what you make it? Is life too short? Jesus said that he came to give us life to the full. We all desire to experience the life Jesus promised, but we are confused on what will provide it. Living Differently is a call to a young generation of leaders to break free of the cookie cutter mold that the world tells us life is and to discover a life, which is purposed for Kingdom Impact. Peter writes that we should consider ourselves aliens and strangers in this world – inferring that those who follow Jesus will be different from the world around them. Jesus invited us to live out his kingdom here on earth, so how can we be different in a way that isn’t just unattractively strange or quirky, but positioned with clarity about who we are in Christ. A message about being different!

The heart of Lead222 is mentoring. We have the privilege each year to share the transformational message to encourage student to be intentional about the people they choose to BE WITH. This message is about encouraging students to surround themselves with people that will encourage their desires to be different. Discuss the mentoring constellation and vision of Be With. Students should be left with the hope to create new and different relationships with people around the vision of mentoring.

Becoming a leader is not hard to do – many achieve it. However, becoming a leader that actually stands out and does something that matters is a whole different conversation. Leadership that has a different edge and intentionality to it is what this world needs. Teenagers must be encouraged to become leaders who do what no one else has the courage, vision, purpose, or heart to do. This is about awakening a passion to be a leader that people notice and will follow. A message about – who are you becoming as a leader?

“Before I made you, before you were in your mothers womb, I set you apart for a special work” (Jeremiah 1:5). The story of Jeremiah is repeated throughout God’s word. The Lord has created each of us with gifts and passions to become a leader that has our unique and different thing to offer God’s Kingdom. It may be the way we love others, create art, organize events, or express encouragement – but ultimately students must discover their holy discontent and different calling that God is shaping within them. We want to encourage students to seize their divine calling – God wants them to do something that matters. A message about finding a cause this year and doing something different!

Servant Leadership Experience Morning Devotionals are intended to help students start their day focusing their hearts on the Lord. A time of worship, followed by a personal devotional from the SL Journal will keep each day starting renewed and ready for what God has in store.

*NEW IN 2012
Each day SL will provide ongoing practical leadership training through interactive experiences. Students will learn teamwork, responsibility, humility, servanthood, decision-making, encouragement, and other many other leadership intangibles.
Students will also encounter an interactive leadership development experience on Wednesday morning of SL. They will be presented a real life need and have to work together to determine best course of action to create solutions.

After each session each ministry team will have a significant space of time to spend together. Team times are first and foremost for the team and the leader’s freedom to use as needed. An outline with suggested questions and experiences will be provided in the Team Leader Manual as a resource to the team leader/ youth pastor in advance to SL for preparation.
Two specific and intentional spaces of time are created for additional team building.
· Monday Night will be a scheduled Team Night for team leaders to create a unique night for team building, vision moments, community, or whatever your team needs to catalyze the week. Ideas are provided in the Team Leader Manual.
· Wednesday afternoon and evening will be a Team Day – this time is designed for teams to have a unique experience by enjoying SL’s unique location, doing something intentional with your team, and having a good time building leadership together.
